Taylor Swift has written about her past crushes before – Drew, the inspiration for “Teardrops On My Guitar” and Joe Jonas, who sparked “Forever & Always.” But MTV.com reports Taylor is keeping mum so far about who the mystery man is in her latest hit song, “Mine.” She tells Rolling Stone, “I was reflecting back on a boy I liked at a certain time,” noting, “The song is about what it would be like if I actually let my guard down.” The tune is the debut single from Swift’s upcoming album Speak Now, which is due out October 25. Taylor says she is “so ready” for the media blitz that will ensue as the release date nears. She admits it’s “hectic and nonstop,” but insists, “I’m obsessed with being busy.”
Swift admits she wasn’t prepared for “Mine” to be leaked online earlier this month. While she appreciated the overwhelmingly positive response to the track, she in no way was expecting it to be released early. She elaborates, “[My manager] said, ‘I don’t want you to panic.’ And I said, ‘The song leaked, didn’t it?’ I turned on my phone and there were texts saying, ‘Congratulations.’ A leak is so out of my comfort zone, but it ended up good in the end. It made me so emotional that I started crying.” Taylor took to Twitter yesterday to let her fans know she heard “Mine” on the radio for the first time, tweeting, “So I’m just driving down the street, eating fig newtons, minding my own business. And then… It happened.” Then she posted a picture of the radio dial showing her name and the song title. Catch the video for “Mine” when it premieres this Friday at 8:30 PM, ET on MTV.com, VH1.com and CMT.com.
